This project is a renovation of a portion of the Phoenix Renaissance Hotel's first floor lobby, bar and cafe. The Renaissance is part of the Marriott Corporation’s 30 inclusive brands embodying over 4,000 hotels worldwide. The Renaissance is part of Marriott’s luxury branch, integrating themes of discovery, wandering and exploration as key elements of its guests’ experience. These themes encourage visitors to become acquainted with the local neighborhood by integrating the urban surroundings and community into the hotel’s ambiance.

To emphasize the importance of place within my design, I looked to the city of Phoenix for inspiration. I was drawn to the reflective nature of the built environment against the natural allure of the desert. This led me down a path of contemplation, exploring the ways reflectivity could relate to Phoenix and the demands of hospitality design. I chose to concentrate on the guests' reflections on their travels, thinking about where they came from and where they are going to enhance their experiences through the design.
